Add competitors and the adults allowed to collect each of them - name, photo, and an NFC wristband for both. Competitors can be registered directly in Event Guardian, or synced automatically if you already run LiveHeats. Running teams under a client account? Push registration down to each team, or keep it all at one level - either way, staff permissions are set per person, down to exactly what each one can do.

Tap the competitor’s band, then the collecting adult’s. A full-screen verdict says whether that adult is authorized - computed fresh from the register on the server, never from anything the phone is holding. Collecting several children at once? Scan them all before the adult’s tag and get one verdict covering the whole group.
Authorized
A mismatch is denied by default and logged as such. If a genuine exception is needed, staff can override it - but only with a reason, and only once a second staff member confirms it with their own login. Both names go on the record, right alongside everything else.
Denied by default
Scan bands to check competitors in and out of a session. At close, anyone still marked in is escalated as unaccounted for, routed to whichever team you’ve set up for that sport. Set an expected end time and the same alert fires on its own if someone is still checked in past it - no one has to remember to close the session.
Live roll call
Confirmed, denied or overridden - each one is written with who scanned it, who collected, and when, alongside DBS status and photo consent where they apply. Nothing here can be edited after the fact, and the whole thing exports as CSV or a formatted PDF whenever your committee asks for it.

If a child goes missing
Flag a competitor as missing and their band becomes a trip-wire. Any scan of it - during a handover, at roll call, or by a member of the public with no app and no login at all - raises an alert. What it shows depends entirely on who scanned it.
